4th Quarter Planning

8 ideas for building foundation in the 4th Quarter

Why is that so many businesses push the most business through during the 4th quarter? Around the same time each year, it always seems like a race to the finish line!

What do we do in the 4th quarter? We stay focused on the 100-year goal!

What would it look like if you were making decisions for the 100-year mark for your business?

Has the firm changed?

What new thoughts/ideas can we prepare in Q4 for a great launch in Q1?

Let’s take complex goal planning and make it simple…

Here are 8 techniques to finish the fourth quarter strong and start 2025 off with a new foundation.

  1. Build and block the calendar.

    • Make sure to clearly articulate off-days to both clients and your team.

    • Targeted campaigns for the next 90 days – how many working days do you have in Q4? Make sure to make the most of them.

    • Block the non-negotiables - times you absolutely will not meet with anyone. There doesn’t have to be a specific reason for it. It’s up to you.

  2. Instead of planning one day, try planning a week.

    • Instead of planning for eight hours in one day – which is exhausting… focus on targeted planning topics for 2-hours at a time. Do it Monday, Wednesday and Friday instead of every day of the week. This gives you time for reflection and energy for the next topic.

  3. Focus on moving all the big rocks to move your business forward. Put away the petty subjects and time-wasting discussions about your email signature format and move the BIG ROCKS.

  4. The fourth quarter is a good time to implement the 12-week philosophy. Whether you are using a strategy like the “12-Week Year” by Brian Moran (highly recommend) or trying the new “Monk Manuel” https://monkmanual.com/ - a 90-day technique & focus that could be a great foundation builder!

  5. Nutrition. Plan out your food for the next 90 days. What do you want to eat? how do you want to feel? Eat to live with energy!

  6. Exercise. When? How? Where? Accountability partner? What will you do in the fall/cold months to maximize your exercise - which can drive energy towards your personal goals?

  7. Faith. Can you become stronger in your faith? I am not judging but asking… Someone recently said to me… “Steve I have lived a great life, unfortunately none of it was what I had planned” – such a profound thought – we can plan all we want and prepare, but sometimes a little faith in something bigger than ourselves can go a long way during turbulent times.

  8. Theme. Pick a theme that you will pursue over the next 90 days and go for it!

Hopefully those eight techniques helped you and can become a guide for goal-planning going forward.

May this influence you towards an amazing start into the New Year…
